The North Gorge at Point Lookout – a painting in oils in 1943 by artist Winifred Hughes at age 21 years. Winifred later married Dr Lincoln Robbins and raised six children before teaching science at St Margarets Girls School and Nudgee College for Boys in Brisbane, and co-writing school texts in zoology and biology for Queensland senior schools. She is a reknowned portrait painter and an executive member of the Royal Queensland Art Society based in Edward Street, Brisbane city. Winifred now lives in Wynnum and is still painting. The above portrait proudly hangs in the lounge room of the fourth of her five sons on Macleay Island.
